Vitamin D and uterine fibroids

Women Talking: Vitamin D and uterine fibroids

The presence of vitamin D in our body is necessary to help maintain healthy bones. Clinical studies have also shown that women who maintain an adequate vitamin D level are less likely to develop heart disease or uterine fibroids.

Sources of Vitamin D:

  • Fatty fish, like salmon and tuna
  • Beef liver
  • Dairy
  • Eggs
  • Avocado
  • Vitamin D3 supplements in capsules

If there is a family history of fibroids in your family, consider doing the following:

  • See your specialist doctor at least once a year to find out how your uterus is
  • Check your hormonal levels
  • Increase your intake of Vitamin D to reduce the risk of developing them
  • Watch your weight and daily diet
  • Get a regular physical activity for at least 30 minutes
